EP6 - Carrier Fluids
Goals
This sub-project investigates and characterizes flow rates and tracers in selected feeder areas (sources) on the brink of the Thuringian Basin. Micro element-chemistry and micro-biology will assist to characterize mineral waters and thermal waters in fissures and pore space of sources and sinks.
A comprehensive characterization of the transition from source and sink areas will allow for the bore hole location.
First goal of EP6 is to characterize Buntsandstein aquifer as a source for different deep water reservoires. This will help significantly to understand fluid circulation in the Thuringian Basin. Second goal, EP6 links the unsaturated zone (EP5) with results of the 3D structural model (EP2) and hydro-chemical data (EP3).
