EP7 - Earth Observation
Goals
Even very small changes of a couple of mm/a in altitude will be measured on the surface of the Thuringian Basin. Differential interferometric satellite based radar (dInSAR) is used to get all spatiotemporal data. Satellite based radar data near the bore hole will be analyzed interferometrically. These data cover all seasons, various ground water levels and the weather. Firstly, we form motion models that trace all ups and downs (vertical movements) in time.
Secondly, time series of water level data validate our motion models to identify fluid induced signals. By analyzing the wave lengths of lifting zones and lowering zones we hope to say something about the depth of triggering fluid flows. These data are aligned with hydrogeological data of major aquifers.
Our mapped fluid flows and barriers for fluid migration will contribute to the high resolution numerical flow models in EP10 (THMC modelling).
