EP8 - Economic Utilization (JENA-GEOS®)
Goals
We proof if the use of geothermal energy in Thuringia is geologically, geophysically and economically viable, on a large scale. Over the stretch of 5 years, EP8 reviews scientific results of the Thuringian Basin on a constant basis and will suggest if locations - national and multinational - with similar Basin structure should invest in geothermal use or not. Scientific data of all sub-projects allow for a SWOT analysis of near surface geothermal and deep geothermal energy.
Another goal is mapping and evaluating of all geological and geothermal resources in Eastern Germany/Thuringia. The following questions will be answered:
- Who can use what, when and how? what is technically feasible?
- What is economically viable? Costs?
- what are the opportunities? what are the risks and how can we limit them?
JENA-GEOS® contribution will help Thuringian companies to implement the technological and economical edge to be nationally and multinationally competitive.
